Here is a little bit about each charity and how we are supporting them;

Amnesty’s purpose is to protect people wherever justice, fairness, freedom and truth are denied.

Amnesty work on lots of issues. Right now their priority campaigns are Women’s Human Rights and Poverty and Human Rights.

We believe what Amnesty does for human beings all around the world is important and we wanted to to try and do ‘something’ (however little) that supports them and at the very least raises awareness of the work they do.

We invited K-Guy to create a Ltd Edition Screen Print for us, with Amnesty in mind.

No Blood On Your Hands

K-Guy took the concept of ‘No Blood On Your Hands’ – his installation at the ‘No Holds Barred’ special project at Art Amsterdam 2010 (26th – 30th May) to create for us a limited edition of unique screen prints.

blood it is hard to shake hands with her.”

One25 is run by women for women who are street-based sex-workers – those who are in the process of exiting such work, and those who have now exited. Based in Bristol, one25 enable women to consider change, and help them access the services they need to break free and build new lives away from violence, poverty and addiction.

Night Outreach

Fact: The outreach team had 3163 visits from the women in 2009

The Outreach van goes out 5 nights per week and provides nutritious food, hot drinks and a chance to talk and get advice in a safe space. One25 give access to a mobile phone to contact emergency hostels, information on ‘ugly mugs’ (perpetrators of street violence), warm clothes, personal alarms, first aid, condoms and more.

Drop-in

Fact: The drop-in had 1782 visits from the women in 2009

At the drop-in centre the women can speak to a caseworker without appointment and gain expert advice and help from visiting professionals including doctors, addiction workers, basic skills tutors, etc. They open 4 afternoons and 1 morning per week and provide a women-only space where they can eat a hot lunch, learn a new skill, take part in therapeutic sessions or chat to staff or visitors. Others, who have nowhere safe to live, do laundry, pick up clothes from the second hand rail and use the shower facilities. The homely, relaxed atmosphere gives opportunities for the women to start making positive steps forward in their lives.

One-to-one casework support

Last year, One25 intensively supported 108 women of whom: 57 women exited street sex-work and/or maintained their exit; 61 got into addiction treatment; 69 saw a doctor or dentist; 40 started therapy; 34 got started training, education or employment; 32 reunited with family; 33 were safely housed and 16 kept their children safely in their care
