Dr Amaqueen AKA Carl Simpson is originally from South London, with a background in Punk, the protest movement and working in the video sector of the alternative music scene, Carl’s work has always been influenced and fed by DIY and Dadaist flavours from the Situationists to Jamie Reid to the Chapman Brothers
Carl’s practice uses mixed mediums of collage, assemblage, pop art, paint and sculpture and attempts to stand by the Cruz adage that ‘Art should comfort the disturbed and disturb the comfortable’.
Carl is currently studying Fine Art at UWE Bristol and regularly DJ’s in the South West.
