>>> Paul Kneen

Stamford based artist Paul Kneen has recently completed a successful 2 month solo exhibition at Peterborough Museum & Art Gallery with press coverage both local and national, including the BBC. The exhibition titled ‘PAINtings’ followed a previous exhibition at the museum which also featured works by Banksy, KAWS, Ben Eine and Damien Hirst.

Paul has painted at previous Korpfest paint jams as well as Cheltenham Paint Festival and New Urban Era in Tamworth. One of his pieces painted at a Korpfest event featured in the Huffington Post and Vogue.

Paul Kneen states, “Art allows me to be free. It takes me on unexpected journeys not just within my creative process but through the opportunities art has presented along the way”.

Back in 2005, whilst living in London, Paul began to notice a new style of art appearing on the streets. It was powerful, not only visually but also in the messages it contained. The work discussed issues creatively and opened his eyes to the idea art could say something; that it could encourage debate and maybe even influence our thoughts and opinions.

This sparked something inside him; igniting a passion for using art as a vehicle to say something about the world we live in.

Street art also influences the materials Paul uses. Although predominantly created using traditional paint, he also incorporates spray paint, posca pens and stencils.

Paul Kneen’s work has been exhibited both in the UK and South Africa with many of his pieces in private and museum collections.
